Mayor Wilson, Seattle FIFA World Cup 26 Local Organizing Committee and Host City Supporters reflect on the historic collaboration that made the region shine on the world stage and reinforced local pride

Seattle — The Seattle FIFA World Cup 26™ Local Organizing Committee (SeattleFWC26), Host City Supporters, and Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson reflected on the remarkable summer of 2026 when Seattle hosted millions of visitors and claimed its place as one of the world’s premier sports cities.

SeattleFWC26 released its Final Report of impacts and lessons learned from hosting the FIFA World Cup™ and launched a Seattle 2026 Legacy Website that captures the lasting benefits of the tournament.

“The world fell in love with Seattle and Washington through the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Peter Tomozawa, CEO, SeattleFWC26. “We used this moment to generate nearly $900 million in economic impact, create more than 35 legacy projects, and reveal what is possible when a region is united by a shared purpose. Thanks to our Host City Supporters, donors, delivery partners, public agencies, businesses, and neighbors, we reminded the world of the innovation, hospitality, and community spirit that make Seattle extraordinary.”

“This summer, Seattle showed the power of community,” said Mayor Katie Wilson. “What we accomplished together reflects the very best of Seattle: dedicated public employees delivering for residents and visitors alike, local businesses and volunteers welcoming the world, and partners across our region working together to achieve something extraordinary. The pride and partnerships forged through FIFA World Cup 2026™ will leave a lasting mark on our city for years to come.”

"The Puyallup Tribe proudly welcomed the world in 2026," said Puyallup Tribe of Indians World Cup Project Director Amy McFarland. "As the first sovereign Indigenous Nation to be an official Host City Supporter for a FIFA World Cup, we were proud to welcome so many to this region and introduce them to our people, language, and culture. The strong partnerships that were made this summer show how much we can accomplish when we work together and focus on leaving a legacy for future generations.”

“We were proud to support Seattle as it welcomed the world during this historic tournament,” said Eric Edge, VP of Brand & Marketing at Alaska Airlines. “As Seattle’s hometown global airline, connecting people and communities is at the heart of what we do. Welcoming fans from around the globe gave us an opportunity to showcase the spirit and hospitality of Alaska Airlines and the Pacific Northwest through the people who make this region so special.”

“The Puget Sound region is Amazon's home, and we were proud to help welcome the world to Seattle for the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said David Zapolsky, Chief Global Affairs & Legal Officer at Amazon. “The tournament brought people together across our city in ways that reflected the best of this region -- its energy, its culture, and its deep sense of community. We're committed to building on that spirit in the years ahead."

"The FIFA World Cup 2026 presented an extraordinary opportunity to showcase the innovation, talent and global connections that define our region," said Bill McSherry, Boeing Vice President of State Advocacy and Global Engagement. “This summer, our community rolled the welcome mat out to the world for the FIFA World Cup 26," said Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft. “We showed visitors how special Seattle and our broader region are, and showed ourselves what we can do together when we put our minds to it.”

“This tournament showed the world the very best of Seattle,” said Port of Seattle Commission President Ryan Calkins. “We are proud to serve both as the welcoming gateway to world travelers through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, and as a steward of Seattle’s iconic working waterfront. The recognition Washington earned on this global stage will keep paying dividends for our travelers, workers, and businesses for years to come.”

“The University of Washington is proud to have partnered with SeattleFWC26, businesses and community leaders across the state to welcome the world to our region,” said Robert J. "Major global events can create momentum that extends far beyond the final whistle," said Don Heisler, Deloitte Seattle managing partner. "Deloitte was proud to support Seattle's host-city vision — one that was about more than the tournament itself. From the beginning, the goal was to create something lasting for this community: a legacy built around Seattle's culture, its values, and its people. That aligns with our mission of helping organizations and communities make lasting progress, because what makes a moment like this meaningful isn't just what happens during the tournament — it's what's built because of it."

“Seattle FIFA World Cup 2026 games introduced the world to everything that makes this region a remarkable place to visit, work, and play,” said Yale Rowe, CEO of Emerald Queen Casino & Hotel. “From world-class entertainment and hospitality to our rich cultural heritage, this tournament created opportunities that reached far beyond the stadium.
