Washington State Invited to Join “How We Pride” Campaign Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™

Storytelling initiative celebrates the voices, stories, and spirit of LGBTQ+ communities across Washington.
SEATTLE, WA — May 19, 2026 — As Washington prepares to welcome a global audience for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, a new statewide campaign invites communities, businesses, and organizations to take part in a shared celebration of Pride, visibility, and belonging.
“How We Pride” is a video storytelling initiative that captures the voices and experiences of people across the state—from athletes and artists to small business owners, drag performers, musicians, and community leaders. Each participant responds to a simple prompt: “I Pride by…” The result is a vibrant collection of short, cinematic videos that reflect the diversity, creativity, and spirit of Washington State. Designed to be both locally grounded and globally resonant, the campaign highlights the people and communities that make the region a welcoming place for all.
A Campaign Built to Be Shared
Beginning May 19, a free digital toolkit is available to Fan Zone organizers, Pride event producers, tourism partners, sports bars, and community hosts statewide. The toolkit is designed to make it easy for partners to integrate “How We Pride” into their programming throughout June, including Pride Month activations.
The toolkit includes:
- Shareable Short Form Videos
- Social media assets and templates
- Downloadable materials
- Guidance for in-venue screenings, events, and community activations
From Local Stories to a Global Stage
With watch parties and events planned across Washington, the campaign creates a unified way for communities to participate in Pride Month while welcoming visitors from around the world.
Partners are encouraged to feature the videos on screens before matches, share them across social platforms, and incorporate them into Pride programming to amplify LGBTQ+ voices and stories.
Join the Movement: #HowWePride
In addition to sharing campaign content, individuals and organizations are invited to create their own videos by completing the prompt “I Pride by…” and posting on social media using #HowWePride.
By contributing their own perspectives, participants help expand the campaign into a living, growing expression of Pride across Washington State—one that reflects both personal identity and collective celebration.
A Statewide Moment of Pride
As Seattle prepares to host six matches of the FIFA World Cup 26 while supporting the annual Pride celebrations that are fixtures of every Seattle summer, “How We Pride” offers a powerful opportunity to connect communities through storytelling, visibility, and shared experience.
More than a campaign, it is an open invitation: to show up, to celebrate, and to share what Pride looks like across Washington.
Let’s be loud and proud!
